Pokémon Legends: ZA Coming to Nintendo 3DS

Revisit Lumiose City How It Was Meant To Be: 240p

BELLEVUE, Wash. — April 1, 2025 — The Pokémon Company International, in collaboration with Nintendo, revealed new details for the Pokémon Legends: Z-A game prior to tomorrow’s Nintendo Direct presentation, revealing that the game will be coming to the Nintendo 3DS family of systems.

Nintendo's previously discontinued handheld console will be returning for one final game. Players will be able to experience the high-stakes Z-A Royale competition on the console that started their Kalos adventure 12 years ago.

In a statement from Marissa Peach, Nintendo's Senior PR Executive, the motivations for this additional release are revealed: "Over the past 12 years, many fans have been hoping for The Pokémon Z Game to release on the Nintendo 3DS family of systems. While that game never released, we wanted a way to show fans we care. Releasing The Pokémon: Legends ZA Game on the Nintendo 3DS Family of Systems is a great way to reward long time fans of the Pokémon series. Players who enjoyed the Pokémon X and Pokémon Y games on their Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo 3DS XL, Nintendo 2DS, New Nintendo 3DS, New Nintendo 3DS XL, or New Nintendo 2DS XL systems will be able to continue their Kalos adventure on that same system."

"We've been working hard to make sure that the game has a positive frame rate," says Timothy Zation, a spokesperson for Game Freak. "At least no one will complain about performance issues on the Switch version."

Pokémon Legends: Z-A will launch on the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS family of systems tomorrowTM. For additional details, visit the official Pokémon Legends: Z-A website.

The new Pokémon Legends: Z-A trailer is now available on the official Pokémon YouTube channel. To watch the full Nintendo Direct presentation, head to the Nintendo of America YouTube channel.
